my pups went unvaccinated and unchipped at 8/9 weeks.
My vet doest vaccs til 8/10 and i sent them with strict instructions. Also I dont vaccine as like the new owners to register with a vet and get them health checked with the first vaccination.
Having said that my pups were still on ther mum once a day til 7 1/2 weeks.

That depends on the vaccine used and the timing of the second shot.

I agree with ramble on this point. I don't think 6 weeks is to young providing the pup is going to experienced owners that the breeder can trust. My beef with this situation would be that a 6 weeks old pup shouldnt be in a pet shop at all! It should be in the owners home, and also that the owners obviously didnt have much of an idea. We have picked pups up at 6 weeks before and will do again. By that age imo they should be weaned and confident ready to learn about their new home environment. It never did ours or people we knows pups any harm and they are all confident happy dogs. The only pup I've ever picked up at 8weeks took twice as long to settle and did it with twice as much volume.

Besides that go back 5 years and everyone picked their pups up at 6 weeks, it was "the age". Now it's 8 weeks, if buying the pup from a responsible breeder they will know which pups are ready and which arent. We've let ours go at 6 weeks yet held a pup back from the litter as it was taking a little longer. She went at 7 1/2 weeks. All have settled into beautiful dogs.

great post Kicks, couldn't agree more.
It depends on the individual pup.
We have had pups arrive at 6 weeks and they generally settle more quickly than older ones IMO as long as they have been with a responsible breeder.
I also agree that whilst its essential to get them out and socialise them at that age...a trip to the pet shop at 6 weeks, even being carried is a bit too much.
