It's not considered the most efficient shape, firstly for transfer of sound waves into the ear canal. Rounded is the most efficeint... eg satellite dish.

Also for blood supply. A pointed tip hinders the smooth flow of blood through capillaries. This would have the effect of reducing heat radiation in hot climates and increasing the risk of frostbite in cold.
