I have recently gone through the same thing, and felt guilty about getting a new pup. It was the best thing I did. I like to think that my beloved gsd Khan is with us on our walks, so zak has not replaced him at all. You sound like a person with a lot of love to give. I lost Ted in March 2005 to cancer, and got Lennon just a month later. He really helped to fill the huge gap that losing Ted left, and I'm very glad I made the decision to take him on when I did. I hope you can find peace with the decision you make. Big hugs xox
