On saturday OH was coming out of a football match when some idiot in front threw a firework backover into the crowd. Luckily it didn't go off. Can you imagine what could have happened?
Wish it was Spring

Agree completely. I can see no reason why anyone needs to celebrate it in their own garden when there are so many organised displays around. I'd even bet my bottom dollar that at least 50% of the people who "celebrate" it, don't have the first clue of what they are actually celebrating anyway. I'm sure I'd hear the name Guy Fawkes, but after that, not a clue, I bet.

Couldn't agree more! I posted awhile back after Jonah was subjected to an unexpected firework display at a wedding we were at. He's been a nervous wreck ever since - no way will he go out after dark and every bang he hears now he sits under the table panting, shaking and trembling - just horrible to see him like that. Have tried rescue remedy but he still gets upset. Ban em!

Reminds me of a (slightly off topic) time, when I was in the pub with some friends around this time of year. Some lads came in with a guy, doing the penny for the guy thing...they came up to us and my friend, when asked, replied 'you are joking aren't you, I'm a catholic!!!!!!!!' It was so funny...the kid just did not have the first clue what he was going on about!!!!!!!

Fireworks are banned here in Northern Ireland - if you do want to buy them you have to get a licence.

But, as usual, it doesnt stop people buying illegal ones and having their own garden displays.

Toby really hates them but this year when they go off we just ignore him and get on with doing whatever we are doing. It does seem to be working as he now just sits on the sofa and listens instead of running to the nearest dark hole.

oh i hate the dam things they should be banned, we have been having a problem with then all month, going off every night.
My hubby was talking to the neighbour on sunday about them and saying that they should not be sold until the 5th, neighbour replyed our dog is so scared of them, low n be hold there son was letting them off in the garden last night.
Hubby went mad.
I wish there was something we could do to protect our animals from a stupid celebration.
