Submissive urination is not necessarily the result of the pup being reprimanded, either physically or verbally and I did not intend to suggest otherwise. It is a natural reaction in young canines, not only to those who may inspire some sort of fear of punishment/rough treatment, but also to those whom they regard as "superior" in size, status or both As I mentioned, it is entirely involuntary and should never be punished.

Well Ozzy isn't submissive or intimidated when he does it - he literally pees with excitement when greeting.

He doesn't do it ALL the time but he does so especially if I've been away for a bit (ie at work when Sid is at home) - and he still does it age 3!!!!
