Any Joyce Stranger would be a good start - she writes fiction (mainly about dogs of one sort of another and GSDs and BCs seem to be a favourite) and non-fiction about raising her own dogs. All worth a look.

Cassius is about a police dog and worth a read.

I enjoyed "Last Dog on the Hill" by Steve Duno.

My favourite dog book is Moobli (hence my username) by Mike Tomkies.

It is a great book. David Kennard has also written a second book - The Dogs of Windcutter Down, which is equally good especially if you are interested in the countryside and working sheepdogs.

There is also his DVD, Year of the Working Sheepdog, which is fab.
