I guess so. Well, for the time being I'll just keep correcting people. People also have trouble pronouncing his name (when trying to say it after looking at it's written form) and several kids have asked about the "hooks", "things", or "bumps" (double rear dew claws) on his back feet.

As Lacey said, I don't REALLY think he looks like a girl dog (tail notwithstanding)... so it's strange. All in good time, I guess.

He's lovely whatever people say about him being a girl.
If I had a penny for everytime my Bernese have been called large collies, Newfies or St Bernards I would be rich. Not quite the same I know but all you can do is correct people.

Yes, you're right. Thanks. Also, I admit that a while back I confused a Bernese Mountain Dog for a Saint Bernard!!

I'll forgive you. Us Berner owners get use to it.

He's retriever mixed... either flat coated, curly coated, or labrador, that's all I really know (and barely that). Thanks for the reply... I guess time will tell.
If he has labrador behind him the the same applies as for bull breeds & if he's got flatcoat he wouldn't have such a broad head.

I never look for the man bits on dogs, only for their expressions.

I have no idea what it is... so no way to know until he is finished growing.

I highly doubt it's Labrador, he's 13 months and his head is very slim, it's not broad at all.

Oh, well. We'll see

Now if you lived over here Myra you woudn't have a problem because most people assume if you have a dog it must be a male. I'm often asked what my dogs names are and when I say Chloe and Georgina I get a slighly surprised look and an "Oh they're girls then"? reply.
