Thank you everyone!

Know that this site is mainly populated with UK members, and that the APBT is a banned breed there, so you probably won't get a lot of advice on this breed here.

The APBT is a breed that doesn't normally do agility (look around at agility shows and tell me if you find any!!), but they are great with weight pulling, schutzhund, and wall climbing or jumping competitions for bully breeds.

They are a high, high energy breed, and a purebred APBT will need TONS of exercise and playtime... or it will get bored, and you do NOT want a bored APBT. Also, socialization is EXTREMELY important!!

Without it, you probably will see the breeds natural dog aggression come out, and that is dangerous.. plain and simple. Honey looks like a Jocko/RedBoy line or maybe Spike... red nosed line are the best lines IMO.

She sure looks like a sweet girl, and well behaved as she's laying right near her owner outside off lead. I'd maybe get her into CGC classes or something.

The APBT really is a great breed, it's sad that many people don't know how to own one. It's also sad that they have been watered down and over bred to where a real APBT is extremely rare now and their temperaments have been ruined. Even sadder that people believe all the lies about the breed yet most people wouldn't know a true APBT if they saw one.

Hop online and do some research! I'm sure you'll find out a lot. Welcome to dogsey, not many American members here
but oh, well!

A pitty girl I kept for a few weeks because of not wanting to give her to the shelter to be put down.. eventually adopted by a shelter employee. Power to the pit bull!!
Thanks so much for your reply. I've noticed she is such a sweet, sweet girl. Her owner takes GREAT care of her so she is pretty well exercised and all around a very obedient dog.

I'm very use to small dogs as that is all I've ever owned, and Honey is certainly not that lol

I noticed the energy level (which I LOVED), very border collie esque.

Thanks so much for all the information. I'll be sure to check out CGC as well. We normally don't have certification here (far and few in between) but it would be fun to try!

She is lovely, I hope you get to work with her. It's a shame that they have such a bad press here due to them becoming a status dog.

Pit bulls are very intelligent and training one is not rocket science, they are still a dog not a different animal over all. Some can be handful if not raised or exercised enough, yet there are some that are naturally laid back, just like any other dog.

Pit bulls normally live to please their owners and can get their feelings hurt easily. A huge need for them is attention and quality companionship from their owner.

They are very athletic and would be great at agility with the proper training. I've fostered some and they caught on extremely quickly to what I was teaching them and were so enthusiastic to participate in trick teaching and basic obedience and manners. I think agility would be great for a bully; the physical, mental and bond created in working as a team will be such a benefit for the overall happiness for them.

Not all bullies are dog aggressive. Just like any breed out there, there are some that do not get along with other dogs but not nearly always the case. Many bullies have been adopted into a home with another dog with absolutely no issues. As long as the temperament is known before hand, there should be no issues. All the one's that have passed through my home were fantastic with my pack. Don't let the whole dog aggression concept scare you off, it's not accurate. They can live peacefully with other dogs, but like I said, there is always the exception like any other breed.

Honey is beautiful!!
