Welcome to Dogsey.

You cannot turn the clock back, so give Dave as many new experiences as possible, & socialise him with quiet friendy dogs. Don't worry if he hides behind you, but don't prasie him either, we met a pup who did this the first time he met Toffee but the next time we met he came closer. Do this carefully, don't push him futher than he is comfortable with nothing scary. Lots of encouragement & prasie.

Try not to worry we can only do our best. Good luck & just enjoy Dave.

Hi there...do you know anyone else who has a good natured dog/s early socialisation is a must if you want your pup to get on with other dogs, my pup Ella is a rescue she was so ill when we got her she was 4 months old before we could take her out & socialise her we were lucky that we knew a lady with 3 dogs & my Ella quickly made friends she is very good with most dogs we did have a problem with pavement walks as she was terrified of traffic but at 9 months she has mastered traffic still a bit nervous with heavy lorries so let your pup go at his own pace don't force him & hopefully you will have a very social pup like mine good luck & enjoy.
