Check out the link to the section on fleas under the "Diet Health & Grooming" section of DogWeb: http://www.dogweb.co.uk/talk/viewtopic.php?t=1300

There is also a link to the Flea Forum, there are lots of great tips there also.

You seem to get years that are particularly bad with fleas everywhere.

I have always used lavender on mine. My blenheim cav and youngest yorkie seem to suffer the worst. I dilute lavender oil with a carrier oil and spray their bedding. I also dilute in the rinse water lavender and when the girls and boys have their baths rinse them in lavender water. It seems to do the trick. You can also buy flea collars soaked in lavender as fleas just dont like it.

I think my problem is that the cats pass them on. But as cats dont like a bath I normally once a week put diluted lavender oil on my hands and rub round their neck and legs and the warmer places where the fleas seem to congregate.

Makes the house smell nice.

This sounds really good, now where do I find this lavender?

And is it in liquid or powder?

You can buy small bottles of essential oils from any health shop. You also need to buy a larger bottle of a carrier oil which has no smell and mix the two. Most essential oils are extremely strong and if undiluted can cause a reaction on skin. Therefore only a few drops of the essential oil is needed.

I make up a spray bottle which you can use for plants. When misting the furniture I tend to mix the essential oil with water although oil and water is not wonderful. Dont use both oils on the furniture.

In the pets bedding if your dog uses a basket or such place soaked lavender on cut pieces of cloth. Mine have never tried to chew the pre soaked fabric or I would have stopped using it. The fleas just hate it.

You can use lavender in your own pillows and its great for headaches.
