I've noticed that UK breeders ARE breeding away from exaggerations in *******. The Italian spcimens are often the most wrinkled.

If the faces and eyes were tighter i would like them even better ..
The uk dogs i saw had no leg folds at all which looked much better to my untrained eye...

I agree with Leannes definition of fit for function, have to say though, sometimes I do wonder what the creators of some breeds would say if they were around to see what their breeds have become today.

For me it is to be physically capable of doing what the breed purpose was.

The correct temperament for that function in many cases can not be tested for in this day and age and that is as it should be.

I've been on the "Kerry Blue terrier Foundation" website and seen photos of competitions where the dogs dig up Badgers and kill them. Obviously different cruelty laws there as I couldn't see that being allowed in this country (fortunately).
