It must be difficult in a three storey house but I don't let my puppies use the stairs until they are at least 8 months old. In fact, none of my dogs come up the stairs anymore unless I specifically let them but that's only because I've discovered the joys of a dog hair-less bedroom!

Its been said in here before too that you can turn a dog into an excersize junkie, the more you give it the more it needs.

Oh crikey I hope she hasn't done herself any damage?? She tends to take herself off upstairs when I pop out so it's not a lot really plus she's very light so I don't imagine there would be much strain on her joints.
My doggies are Yorkies so don't shed. They do pee and poo however but not upstairs as yet!

Your Yorkie sounds a real character My 'pups' are 9 months and I have to be really careful with them on stairs. Our house is built up (due to flood plain) so they have to go down 8 steps to get to the garden. As they chase each other non-stop I always hold onto one collar so that they go down calmly ..... actually the word 'calm' doesn't really describe with of my dogs I know that dogs are about 2 years old before they do competitive agility so that their bones/muscles etc etc are all stable.
