Thanks for all your replies, and all the advice.
I'll continue looking into it all, thanks also for the link to the cavalier club, I'm sure all that info will be very useful!

Have you seen the parents? Nice parents don't guarantee a nice dog, but don't chance bad ones.

Also how old will the puppy be when you get it? Ideal is 7-8 weeks when puppies quickly adjust to new things. Past 12 weeks, their ability to cope with new things declines rapidly.

Cavaliers are a toy breed & really should be still with the rest of the litter/mother until they are 12/14 weeks old

As you haven't had experience of this toy breed getting a toy breed as young as 7/8 weeks of age is really not advisable, your one rule fits all doesn't apply to this aspect of puppy owning

Well fine but, but getting away with a bad practice doesn't mean everybody else will.

None of our cresteds have left before 12weeks! we havent had one problem..Toy breeds are very different to other breeds, there not as early weaners, there not as foward as other breeds at 8weeks, there still small and learning lots from mum a litter mates...well thats our experience with the cresteds any how.

Bad practice ??? keeping puppies in crates with ni bedding for hours on end & keeping them fastened up on a chain indoors is good practice is it ? I don't think so
