Thanks all. I think he should be allowed to sleep where he likes too but as I say that's a no-no from OH if it means sleeping in our room. Unless I can train him to come upstairs once OH is asleep lol!

OMG Maxine that is sooooo funny!! Can't believe your dogs did that!!

Yes Claire&Daisy his bed is downstairs but for some reason he's chose to come up for the past few nights. I'm just hoping its the hot weather maybe?

Let him sleep where he likes. I would agree as someone suggested above though, if his legs are going a little bit. Put a stairgate at the top of the stairs to avoid any accidents and tumbles.

I would let him sleep in our room but OH is not a dog person tbh.

His legs aren't that bad that I'd worry about him falling but they aren't what they they used to be so I think its just that I think the less stairs he has to contend with the better if you see what I mean.

You could try sleeping with the dog in his room until the OH is missing you both so much, he will be glad to have his lungs filled with dog flavoured methane.

He's an old boy and for some reason he needs the company, why don't you join him and then OH will have to decide who all sleeps where.
How about a compromise? Can you make a comfy bed in the hallway, next to the room? Failing that, sorry OH you've been out voted. And hey, it has been a fair vote.

Sydney sleeps upstairs on the landing. She has her bed out there and is very happy. We leave the bedroom doors open, so she can see us !!
