I'm allergic to puppy hair my eyes swell up and I have to antihistamines. As soon as the puppy fur turns to adult coat I'm fine. I use Xylal which I get on prescription from the docs.
When I have a litter its a nightmare.

I've had problems in the past when taking on new dogs. Think it's because the dogs not only have their own smell on them but also the smells and hairs of all the other dogs they may have shared kennels with, ie. one dog smell = ok, lots of dog smells = running nose, sore eyes, etc. Anti Histamine for the me and lots of baths for the poor dog has been my general answer - it's never lasted beyond the first couple of weeks.
