I long for the day I am wealthy enough to afford to food shop solely at M&S!

I probably am and I still wouldn't solely shop there! Don't understand why people pay through the nose for products when they could get the identical item much cheaper elsewhere.

It's a credit to someone's marketing skills somewhere that people think product X in fancy packaging and an inflated price is any better than product X in plain packaging......

I am not rich, and I only buy food from Waitrose (and sometimes M&S - tho it used to be the other way round ).
  • I don't go out every weekend
  • I don't smoke
  • Don't drink
  • Haven't had a holiday in 8 years
  • Drive an old car
  • Don't buy fancy clothes
  • My trainers have a hole in them

Guess it's all about priorities

I don't do any of those things either but still couldn't afford to shop there.

I don't buy any pre-prepared/ready-meal type foods either - just whole ingredients - I spend about 40 minutes at the veg and meat counters

I work at Tesco on the legal dept. I'll let you know on Monday when I go in if the value range are increasing their prices.

Must admit though, I think the value ranges use all the cheapest cuts/ingredients. For the same price, you could get better quality at Aldi.

We neither could afford to do a weekly food shop at M&S. (she says enviously)

There are some things that are not just a matter of fancy packaging, but just ARE better tasting.

Like Heston's Hot Cross Buns, GAWGUSS!

I do not own any trainers.

Does that mean I am deprived?

[I said deprived, not depraved!]
