Thank you both. He seems to be up and down, but thankfully is still firing on all four paws He is not himself, and you know how their head changes shape according to how they are feeling?......well, it seems to be constantly in "poor me" mode, i.e. rather small with semi closed eyes. This morning the paw looked good, with most of the swelling gone, but this afternoon part of it became inflamed again I have just given him a painkiller, and of course he has had his Abs today, plus three stands in salt water. He is not bad enough to go back to the vet, and I am hoping that by tomorrow all is well.
From previous episodes though, it is quite likely that we will have two or three abscesses before this session is over and done with, and I am sure that we will once again end up with a lancing and bandage.
Poor little chap - he doesn't deserve it.

Thank you Nippy and Deb for asking.

It just goes to form that the first treatment never cures completely, does it?

Even with humans, they have to go and go at it.

Hope it doesn't end up being back and forth too much.

Good Luck x

Thank you - no, certainly with Jimmi it is not often that the first treatment works! It would almost be better if he had some sort of foreign body in there that could be removed and then all would be well. Unfortunately, it is just something in his make up, and as the vet gleefully says each time he is signed off........"You WILL be back".

Same here with me and mine!!!! I really don't think its because of the fees, I think its 'just the way it is'!!

Hope he isn't in too much pain. That's what's worse, isn't it?

Good Luck x

Hope the ab's and pain killers work for him and he is soon feeling better.
Would an animalintex poultice work in drawing out the pus and rubbish thats in there? It might help so he dosent have to have it lanced.
Poor Jimmi, hope it soon settles down for him
xx

Sorry to hear he is still in a bit of pain
Seems to be the way of these things; they get worse before they get better (and for some reason even more of them)

Hopefully since you were so quick to get him in and he has gone straight onto his AB's it wont be so bad this time.

I had wondered about the animalintex thing...I will ask the vet about that if we have to go back, because it certainly would be preferable to the lancing I think.

You are so right, but as a fellow sufferer as it were you know how these things tend to go. The swelling has gone down again - but I feel sure that it will be back tomorrow as the paw does not look right. Still - an hour ago he felt well enough to search out and kill a frog, horrid dog I didn't think we could possibly have any left in the garden.
