Here you go I just found this
Quote "37.8 39.2 °C" those are quite NORMAL temperatures for a dog, so try not to worry too much, I'm sure they'll sort him out with the ab's.
normal temp for a dog is 38.3 - 38.7 in all of my VN books, the surgeons books and in my college syllabus aswell.

Thanks for the healing thoughts - I'm itching to call and get an update now!

Just spoke to the girls.

They said there's not really much change in him at the moment, but he's no worse than he was earlier on.

They are going to take his temp again before they leave and give him some more food.

Update sounds ok, at least he is no worse.
I'm just off to work but will be thinking about him tonight.
Take care

Glad to hear he's stable, but like I said before I really don't think this is particularly high a temperature, so try not to worry too much! This is from my book:

1. Body Temperature
Canine "normal" body temperature range is 100.5 - 102.5 Fahrenheit (38 - 39.2 Celsius).
A body temperature below 100 or above 103F warrants a call to your veterinarian. Body temperature in dogs is most often measured rectally, ear thermometers can also be used, but it can be difficult to get an accurate reading. Gauging body temperature by the moistness of the nose or how warm the ears feel is not reliable.

Hope he stays quite stable and they find out exactly what's going on with Max.

That's what my book says! Ask the vet he'll know! All my books say the same thing.

It is awful when you have to leave them at the vets. I hope he is ok, poor boy.

Oh M2M I am really so sorry that Max is rather poorly and I am sending you healing thoughts - lots of them and a wee prayer for overnight - I am sure that he will start rallying round once the medication kicks in. I do hope so. Please give Max, when you see him, huge hugs from me and plent doggy kisses from Loki.

Will keep you and Max in my prayers tonight.

Take care and he is in the right place.

xxxxx
