Poor Fred (and you) and everything crossed that the op goes well and the biopsy of the lump shows nothing sinister. An elderly neighbour who moved away a couple of years ago had a Cavalier King Charles who had very narrow ear canals and was constantly battling infections. He had one ear canal completely sewn/removed (not sure what exactly) and the other one widened. The only thing I do remember was that she had to keep lifting the ears gently to let air circulate as dogs with dropped ears were far more prone to infection .... and especially in this heat we are having. Her CKC did heal very quickly though and made a full recovery.

I'll be thinking of you both tomorrow ((hugs))

That's really positive to hear thank you Jenny and that sounds a much bigger op to what Fred will be having, it's so good to hear of other experiences.
Due to where it is when they remove it he may have a funny looking ear afterwards but that's fine with me.
He did mention something about the ear being at risk of infection so we will do what we can to hopefully prevent that.
I will keep you all updated xx

Everything crossed for Fred for tomorrow. No doubt you will come away with loads of advice from the vets after the op make sure they give you full instructions on how to keep the ear clean afterwards. Drop ears can be problematic, I'm glad I only have one dog with drop ears Roodee the Cavalier & I clean his ears ever other day
