Jamie has eggs most mornings either scrambled or omelette.. I was told that eggs give constipation, but Jamie has never had that problem... I never knew they could have the shells, is it okay to feed them shells, even if they dont have the RAW/BARF diets?

MY dog loves eggs, but he won't eat the white, so I have to give it a good mixing if it's still raw and then he eats it. He'll eat cooked white, but not raw, so maybe he knows what's good for him?! He has about 2 a week as a treat.

Biotin is an essential nutrient which can be bound by the enzyme avidin, which is found in raw egg white, thus preventing it from being absorbed.

Cooking deactivates the binding so cooked eggs don't have this problem.

BUT the egg yolk is very high in biotin anyway so it's okay to feed a few raw eggs a week. I feed roughly two. Biotin deficiency would probably only happen if the dog was eating loads of raw egg white on its own.

I feed shells too as these are a source of calcium. Some people prefer to break the egg and give the insides raw or cooked and grind up the shell to a powder to add to food.

Mine all get a couple of raw eggs a day for breakfast (shell included).

I have to crack them on their biscuits otherwise they want to carry them into the living room.

Try teaching them Takoda's party trick of cracking them inside his food bowl without taking them out - I get all proud watching him do that lol. Just put the egg in the bowl and everytime they go to take it out put it back in till they get the idea - Kody's not the brightest bulb bless him but he caught on very quick.
