Raw gets digested at a different rate to kibble.

Not really, though you will lose some of the nutrients by cooking it.

Tripe is the foulest smelling stuff that I know of but my dogs love it. :smt078 :smt078

The stuff I buy is mixed with organ meant which they get raw.

Well I'm with you on this Gill, it would be natural for the dog to have it raw. I think OH was worried about worms even 'tho we do of course worm them regularly. I showed her this thread and I think she's comming round to the idea now

I asked my vet about this. He said that there was no need to worm the dogs more often as the worms found in cattle would not be transmitted to dogs by dogs eating raw tripe. I didn't ask him to elaborate!

Ollie gets tripe too,but the frozen variety I just have to thaw it for him.He loves it but I agree it does smell.
Gorden's Mum use to buy the bleached tripe he told me when he was young and make onion sauce to go on it.He only ate the onion sauce.

I remember my mum used to cook tripe and onions for my Dad. I think I was the only other one in our family that ate it but thinking back to the smell and the taste - I'm not sure I'd be so keen now.

Sure my dogs would love it though.

I buy it from landywoods, raw either minced or chunked, the smell is absolutly foul but they adore it of course.
