Hi Mj I would advise you go to the chemist and buy a good metal nail file and some emery boards then file the nails little and often, one foot at a time .

Some brave people buy a 'Dremel' sander for dogs nails but the noise is a bit scarey for some dogs.

I posted a thread about nail files for dogs a time back which caused a real stir but i have to say i do use mine and it really does not bother either boys!

I started Jorja's nails the first day I got her.

Took her to the vet - he vaccinated her and clipped her nails for me.

I've done it weekly since then - just the tiniest snip.

She needed to have me handle her feet - so what more perfect opportunity.

Sometimes I only have to wave the clippers over her nails - there's nothing really to cut!

Handle your dog's feet - you will never know when you will need to.

I agree with every thing Ian has said it is important to get them used to you handling them from an early age, I'm not looking forward to clipping Inkas nails now though hes had that much bother with one of his paws he is a wee bitty nervous when you touch that paw now.
