Think it could be either, everyone thinks Rio is a boys name because of Rio Ferdinand, obviously too young to remember Duran Duran. I like unisex names.

I think its a great name for a boy or a girl, however I am a person who called my male dog Angel!!! which a lot of people associate as being girly, if you like the name what does it matter.

I think it is a fine name for male or female.

However, 'badger' also means to pester or worry ... do dogs live up to the names we give them?

I voted yes, but then I love girls names that are usually thought of as boys names, like Sam, Jo, George

Alternatively, here's a page of old local names for badger, as well as listing what a badger is called in other countries, including Mongolian . Amazing what you can find on the web. I quite like the Korean name, ohsoree - might make for a well-manned doglet
