I think it was stupit for her to be ordered to take it down
My Grandfather had a sign saying "NO HAWKERS OR TINKERS" on his gate for years and no one told him to take it down
Some people in councel offices must have nothing better to do

I dont think we can be 100% sure no one complained - I mean the Sun said that (I take everything they say with a HUGE pinch of salt )

With regards to persistant 'door-knockers' I guess we've never had that problem. I know one of the flats a friend lived in had a polite sign saying, "No canvassers or mailshots please ".. as far as I know it worked.

Only once had a JW knock my door - he was polite even if a little persistant, but I do appreciate where some of you are coming from as it is a test of assertiveness saying 'No thanks' (sometimes 'No thanks. No thanks, really no thank you! :smt101 )

I was thinking more along the lines of JWs who don't partake in any of that - why do they have to be tarred with the same brush? As usual its the innocent ones it effects most.

Luckily we don't get many 'salespeople' calling round here.... Rockys barking probably scares them away

I must admit it did make me chuckle!!

PS. I have nothing against any religion or background. But I did get annoyed when a JW spent 10 mins banging on my door whilst I was trying to sleep (night duty) and then handed me a watchtower booklet that was titled 'are you getting enough sleep'!

lol I thought that's just what they did do!!!

I've been chuckling away this afternoon at a report on the 2 oclock news in which it was reported that "two policemen have been arrested and bailed on charges of stealing from their station tuck shop"

Now honestly that is a story you really couldn't make up

Well it's a pity they don't respond to more serious aspects of crime than this. But then again tackling a 77 year old woman is a bit easier than a yob isn't it

Well I don't know about your way Rob but they do an ok job round here.

In fairness for all the flack they get, we'd be lost without them. Yes they do make mistakes (as we've debated before) but they haven't got it easy by any means.

Culture has changed so much - when we were kids we respected the police.. these days the kids don't.
