Louise why can't sibes be let off to run about like other dogs ?, my two girls love it, I do keep the lads on lead as they just go on the hunt chasing rabbits.

Because its a breed thing...I would guestimate that 90% of sibe owners do not let their dogs offlead..

I can see why, the unprovoked attempted attack was quite vicious, Rotties always get a bad reputation too, the lads won't forget today so lets hope they never get too close to her dogs in future.

I would say, NO its not suited for them to do that sort of thing, more so if they are a bit dog aggressive, but I would have prefered that smeags had been closer to you..

that said she came back when called, so really she did nothing wrong,

given the park is used very much by dog walkers, also there are many bends in the narrow track, I would think its only a matter of time before something goes wrong,

the paths are very narrow, so it will be hard to keep them from having a go at other dogs when its busy.

Sibes aren't kept on leads because they are generally vicious!!! They are kept on lead so they dont run in front of cars and get killed

So how do you socialise them? Just curious.
And Nero - I`m with you mate! A public footpath is not a racetrack, and a cyclist has little control over 2 dogs IMO.

I never run ours with the bike in parks i find quiet dirt tracks to use & have use of a racecourse as not likely to come across other dogs much where we go. If we do see a loose dog i stop & get off & hold my 2 sibes until the other dog has passed BUT sometimes i have had people just let their dogs come over to ours even when i have stopped & am holding them still!!!!! our sibes get to say hi to lots of dogs & can still get a loose run as we can use a fenced field near us thats not used, we often get other dogs visit this field & ours can socialise with them & tear around too. I won't start the OFF LEASH thing !!!
