I am not a lover of the RSPCA either.

It is a shame that the BBC did those Animal Hospital programmes which showed the work done by some of the RSPCA hospitals, because they gave the impression that the organisation was this giant, caring, animal loving organisation from top to bottom.

Actually, the truth is totally different, and, as others have already mentioned, it is very difficult to get help from them when it is really needed.

It would have been better to have used on of the other animal welfare organisations who have a policy of never putting healthy animals down and which do not have the financial backing of the RSPCA

I contacted my local RSPCA today at 3.30 pm and was told to try again tomorrow as they finish at 4pm today, they didn't even want to listen to me. Thankfully my vet was more understanding adn helped me out beyond the call of duty and sadly the animal I was calling about had to be destroyed.

Disgusting if you ask me...

This must be one of the darkest secrets of the RSPCA because I doubt many people, even some of those who spend time trying to raise money for them know of these barbaric procedures.

Can you really imagine any animal loving person, who has the welfare of animals at the forefront of their minds, carrying out this procedure?

it makes me cry when I think what the dogs must go through and shudder at the mere thought of it
