I will tell the breeder once I've calmed down from it all, but doubt they will be doing it again.
MRD is a serious inherited eye disease. It varies in degree, Woody is lucky if he has it in its mildest form and he wont go blind, but its exactly the same for any dog that has it, except they may have it much worse and will go blind.

Please tell the breeder and ask them to inform ALL the litter owners.

Im pleased its not PRA.

Agree there is type 1,2 and 3 stages.

Although mild now (type1) it can go into type 2 and so one.

Also if you were to breed one dog who has it with a clear dog.....yes the pups will be unaffected....BUT they will carry the Gene...this could then come out again when they are breed.

That's excellent news. I think switching him over to Arden Grange is a massive step in the right direction too.

Big kisses for Woody xxx

The eye specialist

ESS should not be bred from if they fail any of the health tests-DNA, Eye & Hips & the eye test needs to be done annually & within 12 months before being bred from.

MRD in it's mild form may not cause him huge problems & but as someone else has written it can develop into a worse grade & also affected dogs can develop Glaucoma later in life.

This is why the parents & affected offsprin should not be bred from again & neither should the siblings to an affected dog

I was who was the nonce too....eye specialist... they usually know thier stuff, think Willow referral Centre's (where Reah goes)eye specialists would be rather 'put out' being called that and they are good, very very good.

ps....yes thier eyes would have to continually be tested every 12 months
