Hi everyone, went to see the nurse this morning, but did the injection myself (in front of her), I found it quite easy, so think I'll pick it up quickly!

Off to hospital after lunch for my bone marrow biopsy.

Well done! Big hugs to you, very brave. I can stick big needles in dogs but stick one in myself

lol
Thanks! It wasn't as bad as I thought....the needle is longish (over an inch), but very fine. My skin felt really tough to slide the needle in, but it wasn't painful.....it's the medicine inside that stings when the plunger is pushed!!

Thankyou Nicola

I just checked, and I didn't even bruise today! The nurse bruised me yesterday!

Made the mistake a bit earlier of starting to watch a bone marrow biopsy on youtube...BAD mistake! I turned it off!
I know whats involved cos i've had one before, but the girl in the film was in pain, and i'm a wuss!

Getting picked up in about half an hour.
Hope you don't all mind me keep posting so often, and pointless things, it actually helps the stress to have a release!

I'm so sorry I missed the updates Hev, I just don't know what to say other than big hugs and we are all here for you, so just keep chatting and it will hopefully keep your mind off your treatment.

I have to say that I admire your courage, I'm not sure I would be as calm as you are, especially as you know what treatment to expect. I have every faith that you will make a good recovery and I just wish we could all share in your discomfort in order to ease it a bit. xxx

Thanks Scorpio

Had my biopsy....I asked to be sedated, rather than gas and air, cos it's a very painful procedure....you can be given local anasthetic, but not into the centre of your bone, so that would still hurt! (They give local anyway, even with sedation)
I remember saying I was sleepy....then I woke up lol

Well, they took 3 samples....first was an 'aspiration' (they take a liquid form of bone marrow).
The second was a 'Trephine' (they take a solid piece of bone marrow, about 2cm long), and 'Cytogenic' (when they take the fluid, like in the aspiration, but this one studies the abnormalities in chromosomes).

I'm a little sore, and have to keep the dressing on for 2 days, so no baths, only showers!

Back to the hospital tomorrow for my ultra-sound (70 mile round trip!)
