Yes, I think you should post a separate thread with a warning - just summarising how the scam works & what people shouldl do to avoid it. There will be a lot of people who won't have read this thread (it is very long!).

You were very lucky (well sensible) for not giving over your documents and for going to the police station yourself...but I'm sure others will be caught by this scam.
