J
you are right that they are generally slightly taller
breed standard says:
Size
Height and weight should be in proportion.
A height of about 18 to 19 inches at shoulders for the male
and 17 to 18 inches for the female is to be considered preferable

could it have been a small one or a cross? or even a pit? Not sure about the status of pits in Denmark with regard to BSL
By the way are cropped ears allowed in Denmark then ?

Belluna, 1hat you saw wouldnt have been a Stafford, as far as I am aware they dont crop Staffords ears even in countries where it is legal its just not done. I have seen one picture of a cropped Stafford from the 1960s in America it was one of the first imports but that is the only picture.

It could have been an AmStaff or an APBT (not sure what the legal issues are though) you saw.

The AmStaff is basically the show version of the APBT bred originally down from Pitbull lines but to a set standard, to this day in the US the APBT can be dual registered as an AmStaff. The AmStaff tends to be a very stocky dog a lot less athletic than the pitbull, not much taller than the Stafford standard but definitley a lot bulkier.

Here is a link to an excellent website that features every colour of Stafford possible. It starts on the black & tan page because that is where my bookmark is but if you look to the left you can pick each colour (brindle, pied, white, red, fawn, blue, black, black & tan) and see pictures (cassy is on there somewhere but looks real fat in the pics as she was just a puppy!).

Hi guys

Saw the guy again the other night. Closer this time, and they were NOT brown, but BLUE staffies.

Unfortunately atleast 1 of them was very dogaggressive. And the guy had to pull hard to keep him from attacking Luna.

He can have them off lead, if he's alone, cause he only put them on lead when he saw me coming.

I'm not a racist, but when a turk here in Denmark have a staffie (especially with cropped ears) its trouble..... And ere he was with 2 of them. They would have been gorgeous if they hadnt the cropped ears and were so aggressive

Hi Belluna,

I could say the same about Asians in this country because I know of a few personally who are peddling pitbulls in the Birmingham area, but thankfully I realise that BAD DOG OWNERS COME IN ALL CREEDS AND COLOURS. Sorry I just found your remarks a bit racist, my sisters husband (father of my nieces and nephews) is half Turkish so it has hit a bit of a nerve.

Regarding the dog aggression, unfortunatley that just sometimes comes with the territory of owning bull breeds and doesnt fall prey to bad ownership (well not all the time). My Kip is highly dog aggressive, infact she is highly aggressive to any living animal other than Cassy, her prey drive is off the roof, she has had proper socialisation and training classes (as all my dogs do and have in the past) as a youngster and was brought up similar to Cassy around loads of dogs its just her nature I am afraid and that is the case with some, not all, bull breeds.

Laura I'm definately not a racist..... I have had a turkish boyfriend myself....... I'm sorry if you think that I'm a racist, cause I most certainly don't see myself as one.

But the thing is that this guy is hanging around some bad company consisting of danes and other nationalities. And furthermore staffies are not that common in Denmark. Most people owning staffies here in Denmark are young guys who have the dogs cause "they are cool". AND the only turks having dogs here in my town are having staffies and dont have a clue what to do with them....

I actually knew this guy, as a young boy as his big brother were my BF.....

The only problem I have with blue is a lot of people are breeding specifically for the colour, and as with anything when this happens everything else begins to deteriorate. The poorest examples I have seen of blues have been dogs bred out of blue parents and their blue parents before them for many generations. The colour seems to dilute quite a bit and you end up with a wishy washy grey or mushroom colouring rather than a real deep blue as it should be, the nicest blues I have seen (incidentally one is 1/2 brother to my bitch) were out of two non blue parents who carry the gene. It always seems to produce a much stronger colouring, that said when you get a nice strong blue it is a pleasure to look at.
