I lost my cat Cuba only a year and two weeks ago in a RTA, thankfully she didn't know much about it and didn't regain consciousness - I was with her when she finally went to peace.
If the cat was struck on the head, it would have every chance of being incapable to try to grab onto anything. Its a common misconception. I was absolutely convinced my Cat had come to harm at the hands of deliberate harm, Im pleased I had the PM in the end.
