If I had intact dogs I would never allow them free reign of the house when I was out. I would always keep them separated. Hormones can do funny things to animals of all sorts (including humans ). The dogs I was referring to are all spayed and neutered (except the Rottweiler).

My dont you just love to read into a post what you want to hear.

I should have made it clearer for you so not to give you ammunition to fire but was rushing so condensed it a bit, hey ho never mind.

Most experienced owners will be aware of this, it has nothing to do with socialisation, but a lot to do with nature !!
Of cause dogs just dont turn on each other there is always a reason, but the point is which I was making (badly its seems ) is that experienced owners who have multiple bitch households , will be aware that the dynamics can change at any given monet , it can come of of the blue, and for what ever reason one bitch can turn oops sorry, that word again, on another , that previously they had a good relationship with.

There will be a reason for it, usually due to hierarchy , and NO sometimes you cant see it coming, yes you may get the odd growl or body language, but sometimes you dont,

The thing is with bitches , they dont have "small scuffles" they have "fights" and the first one may set the president for it beign the last.

Bitches fighting is a far more serious situation that any other dog squabble, which brings us back to Nature V nurture.. and instinct, thats why when one bitch turns (Oops sorry) on another in the same household, you have a serious problem on your hands.

The old saying, dogs fight for breeding rights, and bitches fight for breathing rights is a prime example in the argument of Nature taking precedent over nurture!!

Of course they don't. But they sure do keep going back to the PB in the UK I wonder why that is You don't hear of any other dog fighting rings being raided, wonder why that is

Do you live over here, do you know what goes on? Nope.
I suppose as long as it's not happening virtually on your own doorstep it don't bother you...If I wanted a PB I could get one tomorrow, I know where to get one from, seen them, seen the paperwork, seen what they are imported as to get DEFRA clearance...I'm ashamed to be human sometimes!

Dog fighting doesn't happen in the States? Really? Well, I guess all those places raided were just having doggy play time then! Silly me! (How would you put it, oh yeah: )

And the press is always going to call dogs "pit bulls" when it comes to dog fighting. I bet they don't know the breeds of half those dogs. Many of the dogs aren't even purebred anything and many are bred with larger mastiff-type dogs to get a bigger, bulkier more imposing dog.

Sorry but your point is pretty darned pointless. Allowing pit bulls to be legal is not going to increase dog fighting activity because they are ALREADY BREEDING PIT BULLS.

Ah and now the truth comes out. You just hate the breed. Because you have SO MUCH experience with pit bulls. Have you ever even met one?

I want to see people who love the breed be able to own one. They're great dogs.

How can you love something you have never had the experience of meeting the genuine thing.

We get all the time on this thread, I would love to own one , because I love them, yet never met the real thing??

The real thing is ILEGAL here, so unless you are dealing with the criminals who are importing the "fighting" lines, which I assume are not the ones people want to own?

So I am baffled, as how so many can have such knowledge about something they have never met..

I can say, I love the look of breed A,B, but I cant say I would love to own it, until I had met and socialize with them and their owners!!

What complete and utter rubbish, you don't know me or anything about me I'm sure PB's are great dogs, they just don't belong HERE.

If they ARE ''Soooo great'' as you put it, why don't you own one

Oh isn't that just the typical response. "If you love them why don't you have one?" What a stupid question. I also love Newfies, Golden retrievers, and Papillons, but I choose not to have any of those breeds either.

And how can one hate something they've never met? That's just ridiculous.

I don't own one for many reasons, none of which means they should be banned.

(1) I have one dog. I'm not allowed to have more where I live.

(2) I like long-haired dogs. I also wouldn't own a lab or a Greyhound because I prefer my dogs to have a long coat.

(3) I'm a herding dog person. I love the terrier personality but it's not one I'd want to live with. This goes for JRTs, Yorkies, and Pit bulls alike. They're great dogs for someone else to train.

(4) And I'm scared of idiots who hate the breed and will inflict BSL on me. I don't want to suddenly find that the dog I love is illegal and someone is going to come take it away to have it killed. Until people stop being such morons and having knee-jerk reactions to a dog because it "looks tough" I won't own a dog that might fall under BSL. This includes Rottweilers (who I really do love a LOT and would love to own someday), Pit bulls, Staffies, and others.
