No pom poms for you then I am afraid!

The law requires that the tag has:

YOUR name
name/number of house
postcode

You can of course have your full address.

Anything else is OPTIONAL.

How strange that they dont want a phone number as I said before I think thats the most important. A couple of years ago I had a dog called Chester (I had taken him in from a friend that had cancer) he decided to go off with some hikers that were passing the farm anyway when we noticed he was missing I started looking all over the place, ended up at lunch time ringing the gendarms, the marie, the vet, was just about to go out again to start hunting, when the phone rang and it was a bar 14k's away saying had I lost a dog cos there was one there with some hikers Makes it all much quicker to get your dog back.

Well said.

I also think the phone number is so vital, especially now with mobile phones.

Ok, well there are now 6 brand new sparklywarkly taggywaggys on the way to my house all engraved with the info req'd by law & a phone number.
The other tags have vets details on, which I thought was a fab idea.

Think about it.

Nobody HAS to have a phone, I know some people who do not have one.

So if you made a law that REQUIRED a phone number, it would not be very useful would it.

Also, phone numbers are not necessarily very useful.

You may be on it phoning around whilst others are phonine YOU to tell you they have found the dog.

Of course if you HAVE a phone (plus a mobile) then you would put the numbers on your tag.

I have mine, my mobile and my vet's numbers on mine.

I have picked up several dogs with no address and just the phone number and I can tell you this is what happens.

Two of them I could have walked round to their homes.

Instead they want to the police (at that time) and the owner had to pay a lot of money to get them back.
