Strange eating habits

My year old Shi Tzu has started eating lint,fuzz from blankets,the Sherpa on his car seat. Does this mean he has some deficiency?

This will certainly not be doing the little guy any good. Does he have plenty of exercise and attention? Is he left alone for long periods? Does he have plenty of stimulation?

I would be much more inclined to think this is a behavioural issue rather than diet, but that does not rule out diet. What is he fed on Grammsie?
