Toy fox or mini rat terrier

I adopted 4 month old zoey yesterday from a lady who said she was a mini rat terrier. My husband picked her up so I wasn't there to ask questions. Her colors are acceptable for both breeds, but I'm guessing she weighs about 5 pounds which makes me think she may be a toy fox. But I think she has the more laid back personality of the rat terrier. Help me I'm so confused! Lol

Definitely not a Fox Terrier.
I have never heard of a Toy Fox Terrier, is this a name for a designer cross?

No they arent designer, they're akc recognized. The toys have a much different face than a regular fox terrier. I've researched toy foxes and mini rats and all the research I've read says the breeds are very difficult to differentiate. I was hoping I could find someone who owned either of them to help me

If it's AKC registered what does the paperwork say?

My dog isn't registered. I was just saying that toy fox terriers aren't designer. They're part of the akc.

Did you ask why it's not registered?

No my husband picked her up so I wasn't there to ask questions. We got her off of puppyfind.com. The more pictures I look I the more I think she is a mini fox. To me the rat terriers seem more muscular and sturdy. I did a Google Image search (which I know is not 100% reliable) but some of the dogs that come up look exactly like mine.

Trouble is without paperwork you can't know for sure, Tbh till you asked the question I'd never heard of a mini fox terrier but I'm in the Uk. Tbf I have a cross breed terrier that most people think is a Norfolk terrier, he's not he doesn't have any Norfolk in him as far as I'm aware.

Toy fox is also called the amertoy. They first joined the akc in 2003 so they're a relatively new breed. It's not that big of a deal but it would be nice to know. And it very well could be that she is mixed. She's going to the vet this week so maybe he will have some info for me. I was thinking about doing a dna test but I heard they aren't all that reliable.

Can't you just talk to the previous owner?
