My sister and her Border Terrier, Daisy, accompanied myself and Zak to the Isle of Arran for a week's holiday back in March.
I had never been to Arran before and was really pleasantly surprised at just how beautiful it is. I definitely want to make a return trip at some point in the future.
A few photos of the area, some of the walks and also the cottage where we stayed. The cottage itself was attached to the owner's house, but they were very unobtrusive, but helpful if needed. They have a large garden and wooded area that we were encouraged to use as our own. They welcome dogs, but don't have a resident dog and so there is no issues with sharing the garden. And as you will see from the deck chair photo (in the next post) the views were to die for
A few more photos. We managed to make it almost to the summit of Goatfell (2,866ft) which is the highest peak on Arran, but hard snow and ice on both routes to the trig point and quickly approaching mist/fog meant it was too dangerous for us to get to the top and the only other route meant climbing/scrambing so my sister did it while I waited with the dogs and vice versa.
It really is a stunning place with wonderful scenery and we found it to be very dog friendly.
I went to Arran in the 70's . It is so incredibly beautiful up in the Isles
There is a quality of clear brightness to the light which I haven't seen anywhere else.
My DIL has a friend living on Mull and she took the children up there last summer , they had an amazing time rock pooling and wandering around with no traffic to worry about.
