Bella - Beautiful Fawn Lurcher - 10 years young
Beautiful Bella is a darling lady lurcher of approximately 23" to the shoulder, 10 years young with a stunning rough fawn coat. She is desperately seeking her forever home as her family can no longer give her what she needs in terms of time and care.
Key points: Utterly ADORES people and children of all ages, immaculately behaved in the home and will ask to go to the toilet. Knows all basic commands, can be left for up to 4 hours on her own, LOVES going in the car, Great on the lead, can live with a confident cat but no small furries or chickens. Loves to play with frisbees and loves to have a splash around in the sea or rivers.
Location: At the moment Bella is still with her family in Leeds, but we would love to find her a foster space in the Norfolk/Suffolk area while she waits for her forever home.
~ Personality ~
Bella has lived with the same family for eight and a half years but they can no longer give her the time and care she deserves as family commitments have taken over. They have tried to find Bella a suitable home but it is terribly difficult homing older dogs in the current climate when even younger dogs/puppies are really struggling to find homes. This has caused great upheaval to little Bella and it is now urgent that she finds a person/family who will give her the continuity, care and love she needs.
Bella is a fabulous companion and adores human contact. All she wants is to be loved, a warm bed and a full tummy. She is an affectionate, loving and beautiful girl who desperately needs to find her forever home and will give whoever you are unconditional love back tenfold.
~ Medical Issues ~
Bella has recently had a benign cyst removed from her hip but is in great health and should have many years ahead of her.
~ In the Home ~
Bella is a perfect house mate, totally clean to the point of being immaculate! She has had access to a dog flap but will ask to go out. This little lady absolutely CRAVES love, cuddles and tickles so it would be nice if she was allowed to cuddle up with her new family on the settee.
~ Other Animals ~
Bella can be unpredictable with other dogs, there is no pattern to this other than some make her feel nervous and afraid so she will occasionally snap or grumble to assert herself. It isn't a huge issue and our behaviourist will always be on hand to give advice with this. Bella lived with the family cat for 6 years and could live with another confident cat. She will chase other cats in the garden but will not attack them but she really isn’t very good with smaller furries.
~ Out and About ~
Bella loves her walks and is very well behaved on the lead. She can go off lead in a secure area but only when she has formed a special bond with her 'person' or 'people'. If she smells or sees something much more exciting however her recall can be a bit 'iffy' like so many lurchers! She will need two walks a day and any playtime with her frisbee will be much appreciated! Although she really enjoys her walks she also luuuurvs her sleep which she indulges in a fair bit (normally from upside down position).
~ Where Can I Live? ~
Bella would be an ideal companion as an only dog for a single person, couple or family where she will get all the love and attention she deserves. She could also live with someone that works part time as she is relaxed about being left (to sleep upside down) until you get home to play frisbee! Please note we do not home dogs to households with children under the age of 8.
~ Where am I? ~
Bella is currently still with her family in Leeds until the right home is found for her or until we can find a foster space for her in the Norfolk/Suffolk area. If you could offer Bella a foster home, please do get in touch, we cover all the costs and will arrange the transport to bring her from Leeds.
~ Want to Adopt Me? ~
Bella is neutered, vaccinated, de-flead, wormed and micro-chipped. Bella is also insured which can be transferred to her new owner(s). Please be aware that a homecheck will be carried out as part of the adoption agreement.
There are application forms for both adopting and fostering a Kerry Greyhound, and we will ask you to fill the relevant one in as the first step in the adoption/fostering process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the forms, as well as further information on our homing & fostering procedures, on either the
Adoption Page or
Fostering Page.
Thank you.
