Raw eggs

All my gang love raw eggs and as we have free range hens we usually have an abundance of eggs.

My question is how many is too many?
Is it ok to feed two a day per dog?

I'd say 2 a day is too much tbh. Mine regularly get raw eggs, 3 or 4 a week at the most...

Mine get one a day, perfect protein. Cannot see the issue in giving two a day if your dogs can handle it.

The price eggs are (free range) I find one a day is enough!

Do they not contain a lot of cholesterol though?

Cholesterol is not a problem for dogs.

Eggs are a perfect source of protein. I have chickens so more eggs than I can give away. My dogs get 1-2 eggs per day each. The only disadvantage is the noxious gas they (the dogs) sometimes give off in the evenings.

BAsically, dogs do not get heart problems with cholesterol because of the way their bodies work, they can of course get pancreatitis etc, but this is more often due to a) their system not working correctly b) breed and c) other factors.

slightly off topic - there is good and bad cholestorol (for humans)

in very simple terms

ldl is bad cholestorol - causes heart attacks

hdl is good cholestorol - prevents heart attacks

eggs are high in hdl, and also omega 3, the current thinking is they are good for you (but remember too much of anything is bad for you, even if its normally good)

but SB is right, dogs metabolise differently

I've always been concerned about giving mine eggs on a regular basis, so I think they may now be in for a nice surprise
