I couldn't agree more with that.
We are, after all, sharing the planet with other animals...the sharing bit seems to have got a bit lost for a lot of people!

There are always going to be a darker side, but I guess its a question of finding the darker side bareable for the sake of the good..But then again what good comes from horse racing - I am yet to here of one benefit...
Exactly the same as dog breeding, pleasure.

I'm not commenting on the earlier posts, haven't got as much time to waste as a lot of you.

Abolish it.

For all you that said, "great race!", yeah! If you're twisted..

Were you still all cheering?.....

Discusting.

And I thought dogsey was for animal lovers. What a joke some of you are.

Just read that one, have to say I don't agree with this one,

I personally don't think the sport could be in any better shape for horses or jockeys
I know that everyone has opionions, and we all have a right to think differently, but I don't think that two horses dying goes any way to support this.

I think though I agree with this,

At this stage, it would be wrong for us to rule anything out or have a knee-jerk reaction
A knee jerk reaction will probally make things worse, but people do need IMO to work out ways where the grand national is still able to be run in a way that is safer for horses and the jockeys,

Thats so sad, its such a shame, I believe that if people can't afford to do the best for their animals they shouldn't have that many, and killing animals instead of being able to keep hold of them until a new home is found is not doing the best for them.

The difference is, ethical breeding doesnt result in a number of dogs a year being killed/or dying a painful death - their lives are not in danger...I only support breeding for a reason, many know I do not agree with soley pet breeders - and I dont see working/showing/agility dogs ect ect dying as they compete..

I am more than a little fed up of a few on this forum who use totaly unrelated things to defend something that others find vile
As everyone posts on here good dog breeding should be about improving the breed so that the breed they love are able to go on and have healthy happy much loved lives free from the pain of ill health and bad tempraments
a GOOD breeder is not producing stock to make them money

That is quite a long way away from what we are talking about with these horses
Who its seems are pretty much bred to make people money, the owners are willing to risk odds of 2 in 40 dying and just get rid of them if they are not making money
does that really sound like animal lovers?

I dont know of a single breeder on here who would be happy for her puppies to go on to an owner who is doing a sport with such a high risk of death

Its akin to bullfighting, both portray a spectacle/anticipation of death to entertain the crowd - what is the difference?

Don't watch horse racing or dog racing. That we use the animals as commodities for sport and deliberately put them in danger is wrong IMHO.
