No. I don`t like it. It`s too long and the fences too high for tired horses. Add to that the money washing round and jockeys desperate to get placed and it`s no wonder there are casualties.

Undoubtedly more could be done...but it isn't because then it wouldn't be such good 'sport' for people to watch. Dog and cock fighting were also part of British 'sporting' heritage...there is no need to continue with any animal cruelty IMO and the Grand National is just that...cruel. There WILL be horses injured/killed tomorrow...for what?????

Couldn't agree more Claire.

Couldn't agree more Claire.

Aside from the fact that the course is gruelling I would imagine that these racehorses are probably very well looked after and well cared for. I know that is not an excuse or any form of compensation for them losing their lives but it sometimes seems that people always make out they have bad lives.

One horse has already died this year Dawn.
It is a pretty safe bet a horse will be injured and /or die tomorrow.

Nope. Not saying they have bad lives at all. I am saying that it is wrong to race horses over a course that will probably cause injury and/or death for 'entertainment'

Is it? As I say, quite a prediction. There is risk in everything.

I was hoping this may be a discussion about the race, rather than an argument about horse racing

Could you not have started an anti thread Ramble? It seems like every post is just a reason to argue.
