In the video Suze posted, CM even says he will 'force' the dog!

When the owner 'touches' him with her leg/foot, she 'touches' him that hard, his whole body moves! Thats not a touch, thats deffinately a kick! And I don't think it did anything to 'get his attention'!

Also, when she is yanking the lead - she does it so hard the poor dog is practically swung halfway round her body!
It's one thing to gently tug the lead - but when you move the dogs whole body - it's far too hard.

I also think it was totally unfair to make the dog have it's bum sniffed. You could tell how uncomfortable it was - poor thing

just watched (yet another stringing up) episode featuring a min pin who lives on an army base and the issue of exercise, or the lack of, came up.

we were shown a clip stating it took 30 minutes to get the dog used to the tread mill. now cm and followers all say, never leave your dog alone on the treadmill, but it can be used as an alternative when a walk isn't possible.

but surely, if you have 30 minutes to sit and watch your dog on a treadmill, you could take it out for a nice walk. far more enjoyable for the dog and i would have thought, for the owner too.

cm fans, please explain the logic behind that one.

Possibly, but I know many dogs who wouldn't, my Tai included.

That's it in a nutshell really, isn't it. I have the evidence right before my eyes. Why should I deny what I saw with Hal, and what I see every day with Tai?

Again - no-one is denying thet the methods he use do not work - they are disputing why and how they work and the damage that can be done by people using the methods without understanding or seeking help.

You do not have to deal with these people - it is not easy and very distressing to talk to some people on the phone or face to face who now have a dog who is 100x worse for trying these things at home - you can say it is not CMs fault as much as you like - but his show is to demostrate that these methods work, so say what you like but people will try it and it comes down to what he has shown and therefore he is at least 95% accountable.

I noted on your profile you do not use or agree with positive methods - thats fine for you - but I like my dogs to be happy and enjoy working with me...and I have never seen a dog trained with negative methods looking happy and relaxed while working.

I've said it before Tassle, and I'll say it again ... we MUST meet up so that you can see for yourself what Tai is like. It will be hard for you in that you don't know what he was like when we adopted him, but I hope we know each other well enough to know that I will be entirely truthful. You will see that my dog is deliriously happy to be with me, even when I am oi'ing and tsst'ing at him for giving more than a sideways glance to the local wildlife, you will see that he is devoted to me and hubby. Whereas I would describe myself and not using positive methods, does that mean I use negative methods?

Only praising the dog when he has done good? Is that negative ... I think not !

Being 100% consistent ?
Staying calm and assertive ?
Giving your dog loads of exercise ?
Allowing him to be a dog ... lots of socialisation with his own species ?

The list is endless, but I firmly believe my methods are not negative !
