Haggis

I love haggis and yesterday we picked one up in Makro

but......................

we dont know how to cook it

can any of you scots help us please

Generally a haggis is already cooked and just needs heated so I would wrap the haggis tightly in tin foil and place in a large saucepan of cold water. Bring to the boil and then simmer gently for about 40 minutes per lb, make sure it is only simmering and not boiling furiously as the skin might burst. This is how I cook Haggis

But you can do it in the oven place it, wrapped in tinfoil, in casserole dish with a little water and heat at 180°C until piping hot, approx. 1 hour, drain off the excess water and serve with mashed potato and mashed turnip.

It tastes a bit like peppery white pudding (Do you get white pudding down South? If not its like oniony and oatmealy taste)

There is a sort of meat taste thrown in there like lamb mince sort of taste. So peppery oniony lamb and oatmeal. Hope that helps!!

Yum I love haggis with neeps and tatties!

You can get it tinned if you're not brave enough to get a proper one in a hatural skin.

oooooh Haggis, I love it we were in Oban in Scotland a few weeks ago and had my fist taste yummy.
