Best Food for Weight Gain

Anyone have any idea what the best food for weight gain is. My dog is 13 months old and she is very lean, you can see her bum bones, nothing I do seems to put the weight on her, I have taken her to the vet but he just suggested to feed her more, but when I try it all comes out the other end. Any suggestions what I can give her to fatten her up a bit?

So, what is your vet's take on the underlying problem?

Surely there must be one, if your dog is constantly loose.

I think I'd consider changing the vet, TBH......

Just my opinion. Hope you get it sorted.

The vet didn't say anything about an underlying problem. I suggested a problem with enzymes, my mum had a German Shepherd with that problem but the vet said it was unlikely.
She isn't constantly loose, just if you try to feed her more than her normal two meals a day. But according to my breeder she is getting the right portion of food and should not be skinny on the food she is eating.
Can dogs just have high metabolism and always be skinny like humans?

I guess it's possible.

Does she still appear hungry after she's had her meal?

I had problems with my dog shes a small cocker and weighed 8kg when i had her (and is extremely active) and i couldn't get her to put weight on, i first tried adding dog meat to her food to give her that extra which made no difference, i then put her on a working dog food shes been on that for a month now and is now 9kg so we are getting there. I think it's just hit and miss finding the food that works best for your dog.

What do you feed at the moment?

I fed her on Eukanuba when she was a puppy, but now she gets Wagg worker as it has the highest protein I could find which apparently should make her fat, it doesn't work for the weight but she eats it and it doesn't come back to haunt her.

I had a problem with Finn not gaining weight and I found that switching to a fish and potato food worked well
