What kind of bin is dog proof?

What are your experiences with bins which are best for keeping out the dog? Both mine are able to get into the flip bin we currently have. so we are going to get a new one. But what kind?

My way round it is to put the bin, where the dogs can't open it.
Can you get the ones which have the bars on,that hold the lid down?

I've got a large pedal bin that is self sealing (a barenta sp?)
Within a few days of getting it Tuscan accidentally trod on the pedal, opened the lid, stuck his head in the bin removing his foot from the pedal at the same time. The resulting bump on his head has meant he never goes near the bin.
Having said that some dogs seem really determined that the only solution is to keep the bin out of reach. We used to keep it in the inner passageway when we had our old boy.
just seen leo's post snap!

Mines a stainless steel pedal bin. The lid fits snuggley down over the side.
I don't think Mo is interested but it certainly keeps my son's Colley out, and that is saying something

Being the owner of the worlds best savengers (labs) I have yet to find a bin that will keep them out. They have lifted the lids with their heads, done the pedal bin and Storm was realised if he could not get the lid off, pull the bin over and it will fall off

Hah! had bin raiders here aswell. That is until I got one from Dunelm, its tall and you have to tap the lid to open it. They can tap the lid open if it hasn't been closed properly but its tall enough not to allow their heads in and heavy enough not to tip over. It wasn't cheap though but worth it

We have those trash can type bins which unless they really want to get to it they can't - the only time is when they knocked it over but even then couldn't really get the goodies!

not cheap but similar to this and does keep them out!
