Lexie passing Blood

Shes been fine in herself playing as normal and generally being a pest, but shes been off her food for a few days.
Then once or twice when she has eaten since Tuesday shes been very lose and we've noticed a small amount of blood. It doesnt seem to bother her but taking her to the vets tomorrow.
My friend said it could be a virus its definatly not parvo or I'd know.

Any one got any ideas what it could be please, she was away at the weekend mixing with other dogs but shes been vaccinated 4 weeks ago.

It could be colitis, but I'd suggest a visit to the vets to confirm this.

Sorry. I just caught this one.

There's so many things to consider so (as Wolfie says) get Lexie to the vet.

I hope as you say ("she's fine herself") that it's nothing serious but it's best getting these things checked.

Make sure you go and let us know how you get on.

Best wishes !

Hi Morganstar, sorry to hear Lexie is ill.
I think you can discount parvo, it wouldn't be a small amount of blood the floor would be awash and the smell is unmistakable (sweet/sickly/fishy).

If she is pooing ok things are getting through she could have eaten a sharp object which is causing problems or she may have some kind of gastritis.

I hope Lexie is better soon.

Hi, Sorry to hear about Lexie, I'm presuming that she hasn't got a temperature or anything? It could be a number of things as already suggested from something sharp passing through to a slight reaction to her jabs causing a bit of colitis to a virus. Why not just give your vet a call and tell him what you've told us and he should be able to reassure you if it's okay just to observe her for a while or whether she needs a visit?

I have a welshie(The Hairy Hooligan) and when he was younger he used to occasionally have a bit of blood in his poo but vet said it was ok if it was just a bit and it soon stopped. Hope it is the same for yours:smt001
