Max moves up a class!

We've now moved up a class at our training club!!

We're in "improvers" now, instead of "beginners", and it means the trainers are a lot harsher generally on what they'll let you or your dog get away with, but we're also progressing well.

We're doing more heelwork and more off-lead work (we train inside), which Max seems to be coping with well.

I've been told our targets are:
To do a sit-stay - as Max ends up "melting" into a down position after about 30 seconds

To do a walking-leave - without me having to drag Max across the floor past the distraction

To get him properly sat at my side - we've picked up a bad habit somewhere along the line of him sitting diagonally to me instead of by my left side.

Other dogs are training for their KC Good Citizen Bronze, but (and here's the brag) Max did this when he was 9 months old, so we don't have another exam to sit!

I doubt he'll ever be an obedience champion, but he is very nicely behaved and a lot less bouncy than he was (i.e. on greeting etc)

Just got to master the retrieve at Flyball now!

He could teach him:

a) How to schlump on the floor from a lovely sit, just as the trainer walks past
b) How to drag you across the room to get to a teeny-tiny bit of chicken someone has dropped on the floor
c) How to forget to stop when asked, so his nose ends up in the bum of the Dobe in front

See, training is paying off!
