Crufts Obedience Day 3
The Dog Obedience Championship
I[FONT="Times New Roman"][B]'m looking forward to today as I know a good few of the handlers & dogs & my friends dog, Ethan, is making his second appearance at Crufts , this year as an Obedience Champion. His sister was 4th yesterday, paws crossed he does as well or better
We are up & ruuning the first dog has worked & the details of the dog, handler & points lost are
Val Venables with IATKA TIPPED FOR THE TOP
H/W 16.25 SA 3.5 DC 0 Ret4 SubTot 23.75 lost 1 on scent-24.75
The Heelwork points lost would indicate that they missed one of the positions the dog is left in during the heelwork pattern
The next two dogs have run
Dot Watts with IATKA ZYG DANN (handler Ian Watts)
H/W 10.25 SA 1 DC 0.5 Ret 1 SubTot12.75-failed lost 50(brought in a decoy)-62.75
Good work from Ian & Dan they are very experienced
Clare Fredrickson with ADDEWID BLISSFUL PROMISE
H/W 17.25 SA 14 DC 1 Ret 3.75 SubTot 36failed lost 50(brought in a decoy)-86
Looks like more missed positions in heelwork & a problem with the sendaway-it s like yesterday 4 black boxes for the corners, but with a policeman's helmet as the back marker. The retrieve artcle is a pair of handcuffs !
The next dog is
Jennie Lunn with LONGHALVES ON A HIGH
H/W 6.25 SA 1 DC 6 Ret 0.75 SubTot 14-clear scent-14
So even if all the leaders fail scent the Championsip will be awarded
Looks like a missed position or excessive movement in the Distant Control
The fifth dog is
Sharon Dunstan with PIPRIAN RUSTIC ROSS
H/W 16.25 SA 4.75 DC0 Ret 8.5 SubTot29.50.Broke both stays 36.50failed lost 50-116
Looks like more missed positions in heelwork slight deviation in sendaway & a problem in retrieve
Dog six is
Julie Scott with IATKA ZIG ZAG ZING AT KALLIJES
H/W 31 SA 1.75 DC 0 Ret 3 SubTot35.75-lost 0.25-36

The seventh dog is
Sylvia Bishop with SUENIJON HE'S MAGIC
H/W 14.75 SA 1 DC 0 Ret 3.25 SubTot 19 lost 0.50 scent-19.50
Sylvia is one of the most experienced handlers in Obedience & she has won the Championships in the past with several different breeds including an all black GSD bitch. She is a brilliant trainer of other handlers too. This is her young dog
Looks like another missed position or similar
The next dog is
Barbara Macknish with TAF'SONLLWYD AT GOLDLAWNS
H/W 13.25 SA 4.5 DC 0 Ret 1.25 SubTot19 lost 0.50 scent-19.50
Heelwork has been expensive again & few lost on the sendaway too.
The next dog is a BSD-Groenendael & then my friend Jackie & Ethan Baby getting quite excited & keeping everything crossed for them
I'll be popping out for lunch after Jackie & Ethan work
Sarah Delany with(BSD)VANISTICA FRENCH ECLIPSE
H/W 9.25 SA 2 DC 2.5 Ret 2.25 SubTot 16 lost 2 scent-18

The eleventh dog is a Golden Retriever(if my memory isn't playing up)
Neil Short with CINNAMON FLAME
H/W 7.75 SA 1.5 DC 0 Ret 0.75 SubTot 10 failed scent lost 50-60

Patricia Jones with TRIMAC MERLIE WIZZ KID
H/W 16 SA 2 DC 0 Ret 2 SubTot 20 failed scent brought in blank lost 50-70
Looks like the heelwork is taking it's toll of several of the dogs & the set exercises are on the whole being done quite well
The dogs have started working again & the first two dogs are
Robert Robertson with SINEDES NEVER SAY NEVER
H/W 11.75 SA 0.75 DC 0.5 Ret 3,25 SubTot 16.25 failed scent brought in decoy lost 50-66.25

The next is
Lee Barker with CURRAHEE HOOKED ON MAGIC
H/W 10.5 SA 2.25 DC1.5 Ret 0.75 SubTot 15-failed scent lost 50-65
Again heelwork taking the most points but set exercises aren't bad
Penultimate dog is
Paul Ingham with PIPRIAN ISLAND ROGUE
H/W 14 SA 2 DC7 Ret 1.5 SubTot 24.5 failed scent(brought in a decoy) lost 5-74.50
Again heelwork plus DC cost most of the marks
The Final dog is
Keith Gwillim with KETHINNA DEVIL IN DISGUISE
H/W 12.75 SA 3.75 DC 6 Ret 0.75 SubTot 23.2 failed scent(brought in a decoy)lost 50-73.2
Same as the previous dog DC & heelwork
Just been told that there are masses of people using the pavilion as a walkway to the Main ring & that they are disturbing the dogs on the benches. The warm up area is minute & not big enough to swing a cat let alone practice & warm up with a dog
Stays are over & dog 5 broke both sit and down stays. Dogs 12,15 22 all moved in the sit stay. Fortunately non oe the leaders failed
