Dalmatians...

Hehe, thought this up whilst in the shower (see they're always on my mind!)... hope you like (it's me being a little bit silly)

Black spots, blue spots,
Liver spots and lemon spots

Lotsa spots, fewer spots
Facial spots and body spots

Big spots, small spots,
Patchy spots and freckle-spots

Right before your eyes, the spots
Lots and lots of dogs with spots

Never two the same!

I'm still waiting for them... you'd have thought it was an emergency case wouldn't you!

teenytiny, you've got me there!
They are born with spots on their skin, which are visible when they're first born, but not when they're dry. Gradually the spots come through so within the first week I think, most have come through.

Some puppies experience secondary spotting where some smaller spots break out between the already existing ones, but Takara's coat never really changed drastically so I could notice it. Sweetveronica's Blue, on the other hand was moderately spotted when she got her, and is now leaning towards heavily spotted so some do get it.

I don't actually know the final age when their markings stop changing but perhaps if Deccy is online at all soon, she might know.

Sorry I'm not much help!

Lottie, I didn't realise that dally's can get 3 layers of spots?! Blue is relatively heavily spotted - but she is now evenly spread which is nice
