Update On My New Puppy!

Hi

Hope everyone had a lovely long weekend.Well, our new collie puppy Shearer is settling in very well and is a bundle of fluffy energy! Toilet training is so so. He knows to go on the paper by the door! Just need to get him outside. We took him and our other dog Tess to our caravan with us thurs to monday and they just bounded about together all weekend. I'd like to get in touch with ohter people with Collies if anyone out there?

Sarah

I've got a young BC called Rjj-mad as a hatter but I wouldn't change him for a million pounds

You are making a rod for your back BTWusing paper indoors for toilet training as it reinforces that going to the loo inside is good. I even set the alarm so I took Rjj out almost on the hour when he was a baby. Loads of praise & rewards when he went outside & nothing-no reaction etc if he went indoors He soon cottoned on to going outside

Hi
I have 3 border collies. I never use paper. Causes to many problems!
I put mine straight outside on the grass & encourage it that way.
I didn't even have to train my last one, she used to follow the other 2 outside
Plus i crate trained my last 2. I think its the best way to house train them :smt023

Without sounding really thick , what is crate training? What should I do now to get him off the paper and outside? I work part time so i'm not always there you see

I have a collie and my OH has 9 collies (working dogs)! They are a fab breed.

I can't wait to see pics of your little guy. Is he black/white? Rough or smooth coated?
