Apologies for my absence....
Been busy with work (as usual) but we now have a more important problem
.
I don't usually post on forums when the dogs are poorly but thought Keeper needs all the help he can get at the moment.
He stopped eating on Wednesday, in at the vets on Thursday, scanned, x-rayed and opened up on Friday. He has auto immune haemolytic anaemia - his packed cell volume is down to 12
.
The vet kept him in from Friday on a drip but he was so unhappy he thought he would be better to come home. The poor boy can't keep anything down and his steroids we are having to dilute with water and give him a few cc's at a time to stop him vomiting them back.
I'm so shocked at the speed of this, he has lost so much weight - he never liked the vet due to a bad experience when he was young but he just laid there and let the vet do what he wanted
which wasn't him at all.
We are all taking turns and sleeping shifts to stay with him - please keep your fingers crossed that he pulls through. He is a very poorly boy, it's very touch and go as to whether the treatment will work, we may well be looking at a blood transfusion tomorrow.
